Kidnapping, Assault Suspect Tackled After Courtroom Outburst

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A courtroom hearing erupted into chaos Monday when a criminal defendant unexpectedly jumped from a wheelchair, shouted at officials, and was physically removed by deputies during a court appearance connected to a domestic violence investigation and a police pursuit.

The suspect, identified in court records as 25-year-old Amadu Williams, appeared before a Hamilton County judge to face multiple felony charges stemming from an alleged assault and subsequent police chase.

Video from the courtroom shows Williams suddenly rising from a wheelchair and creating a disturbance moments into the proceedings. Deputies quickly intervened, restraining him before escorting him from the courtroom as the hearing was temporarily disrupted.

According to prosecutors, the charges stem from an incident in early June in which Williams allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute. Investigators claim the victim was repeatedly struck and subjected to violence that resulted in serious injuries.

Authorities allege that after officers attempted to locate Williams, he became involved in a police pursuit that traveled through multiple areas of the region. Court documents indicate officers accused him of refusing commands, endangering passengers, and attempting to evade arrest before being taken into custody.

Investigators also reported recovering suspected illegal narcotics during the arrest, leading to additional drug-related charges.

Williams now faces numerous counts that reportedly include kidnapping, assault, resisting arrest, and drug offenses.

Prosecutors argued that the severity of the allegations and concerns about public safety warranted a substantial bond.

The courtroom outburst quickly drew attention after video of the incident circulated online, highlighting the tense atmosphere surrounding the case. No injuries were reported as a result of the disturbance inside the courtroom.

Williams remains in custody pending further court proceedings. The allegations against him have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless and until convicted.
