Party Mom Sentenced to Nearly 36 Years for Hosting Alcohol-Fueled Teen Parties

A California party mom has been sentenced to 35 years and 10 months in prison after being convicted of hosting drunk parties involving alcohol and teenagers, followed by allegations of sexual misconduct and related offenses.

Shannon O’Connor of Los Gatos received the maximum sentence on Thursday, following several days of emotional victim impact statements presented in court.

During the hearing, O’Connor spoke publicly for the first time, apologizing to those affected. “My actions are the cause for your pain and I am ashamed,” she said. “And I face every day knowing that I was the cause.”

She added, “I am not sorry for myself, I am sorry for all of you and what I put you through,” saying she hoped victims could find some comfort in her sentencing and imprisonment.

On Wednesday and Thursday, multiple victims and family members gave statements describing the lasting impact of the incidents.

One parent, speaking on behalf of two identified victims, said O’Connor had “preyed upon” her daughter by supplying alcohol and creating situations that led to sexual activity when the teen could not consent.

Prosecutors alleged that O’Connor hosted gatherings for her teenage son and encouraged underage drinking and sexual activity, in some cases facilitating encounters by providing condoms.

Victims also reported that she contacted them after the events, asking intrusive questions about their personal lives and, at times, harassing them.

Several victims and their families had urged the court to impose the maximum sentence following her felony convictions, citing severe and long-term emotional harm.
